Relentless (Album)

About this album

The five-track album Relentless by Angelique—recorded in collaboration with her bandmates from ASTROPAUSE and conductor Salvatore De Vita—masterfully bridges the gap between sacred scripture and modern audio storytelling. Conceived as an audiobook-style journey, each track covers one of the Old Testament’s five major sections. The album beautifully reframes our understanding of Scripture, lifting it above the common misconception of a strict book of rules into a powerful narrative of divine pursuit—proving that no matter how far people strayed, God remained relentless.

The origin of the album is deeply rooted in a formative chapter of Angelique’s life, having been written in 2017 during her summer internship in San Antonio, Texas. In a beautiful display of creative synergy and dedication, her bandmates traveled to San Antonio to visit her. Transforming their temporary surroundings into a collaborative incubator, the group recorded the entire five-track album during this visit, capturing a raw, authentic energy that defines the record’s sonic landscape.

The core vision behind the album stems from an innovative desire to create an audiobook-style track for the major sections of the Bible. Using the Old Testament as its foundation, the record allocates exactly one track to each of its five primary sections, covering the Law, the Historical Books, the Poetic and Wisdom Literature, the Major Prophets, and the Minor Prophets. Each track serves as both a narrative summary and a musical reflection, distilling the unique history, voice, and message of its respective biblical section into a cohesive sonic experience.

At its heart, the album is a profound theological reframing that deliberately challenges the common misconception that the Old Testament is merely a sterile book of rules or a history of judgment. Instead, the album highlights the striking, recurring cycle of human fragility and divine fidelity. No matter how many times the people ran away, faltered, messed up, or turned to other gods, the overriding message of the text remains clear that God’s love is unwavering. Ultimately, the album turns the pages of ancient scripture into a living testament of a Creator who refuses to give up on His people, tracking a pursuit so fierce that no human shortcoming can outrun it.

Be sure to keep an eye out for the sequel album, Redeemed, coming to streaming platforms on August 28, 2026.

Fun fact: During the final day of recording the EP, Angelique developed a sore throat which tested the flexibility of not only her vocals but the entire band. They ended up shifting “Ruins and Redemptions” into a garage rock genre to fit Angelique’s now husky and gritty voice. Watch the featured teaser video on YouTube.
